Population

In 2022, the province's average population was estimated at 1,019,258 persons, an increase of 0.06% compared to that in 2021. The proportion of the population in the urban area continuously witnessed an upward trend, while the population in the rural area experienced a gradual downward trend. In 2022, the urban population was 184,860 persons, accounting for 18.14%; the rural population was 834,398 persons, accounting for 81.86%. The population structure by gender remained almost unchanged with the lower male population than the female population. In 2022, the male population was 503,315 persons, accounting for 49.38%; the female population was 515,943 persons, accounting for 50.62%.

The total fertility rate in 2022 cached 1.68 children per woman. The crude birth rate was 10.84%; the crude death rate was 8.71%. The infant mortality rate (number of deaths of children under-one-year children died. per 1,000 live births) was 10.07%o. The under-5-children mortality rate (number of under-5 children died per 1,000 live births) was 15.73%. The average life expectancy of population in 2022 was 74.7 years; of which, it was 72.2 years for males and 77.2 years for females.

Labor and employment

In 2022, the province's labor force aged 15 years and over reached 547,401 persons, an increase of 11,577 persons compared to that in 2021. Thus, the labor force in the province was quite abundant and witnessed a gradual increasing tendency after the Covid-19 pandemic. In terms of labor force structure, the proportion of the females in the labor force reached 43.01 %, which was much lower than the rate of 56.99% of males. The structure of labor force by urban and rural areas witnessed a considerable difference. The province's labor force was mainly concentrated in rural and witnessed a crease tendency year- on-year. The labor force aged 15 and over in 2022 in the urban accounted for 17.45% and the rural areas made up 82.55%.

The workers aged 15 and over working in economic activities in 2022 reached 534,517 persons, an increase of 17,490 persons compared to that in 2021. Of which, the number of workers working in the state-owned sector was 39,145 persons, accounting for 7.3%; the number of workers working in the non-state economic sector was 478,692 persons, making up 89.6%; the foreign direct investment sector was 16,680 persons, sharing 3.1%.

In 2022, the rate of trained workers aged 15 years and over with diplomas and certificates reached 12.1%, an increase of 1.3% compared to that in 2021. Of which, the trained workers in the urban and rural areas reached 25.9% and 9.2%, respectively.

Because the Covid-19 pandemic was under control, the production performance returned to the normal situation, the unemployment rate and underemployment rate were both lower than those in 2021. The unemployment rate of the labor force in the working age in 2022 was 2.66%, lower than the rate of 4.01% in 2021; of which the rate in the urban and rural areas was 3.31% and 2.52%, respectively. The underemployment rate of the labor force in the working age in 2022 was 3.65%, lower than the rate of 5.75% in 2021; of which the rate in the urban and rural areas was 1.50% and 4.12%, respectively.

Social labor productivity, monthly income per capita of workers by economic sector

In 2022, the social labor productivity reached 136.1 million VND per person per year, a year-on-year increase of 8.27%. Of which: the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 7.87%; the manufacturing rose by 16.32%; the electricity production and supply expanded by 14.61%; the wholesale and retail trade jumped by 24.27%; the transportation and storage grew by 31.51%; the accommodation and food services activities increased by 60.54%;...

In 2022, the monthly income per capita of workers working in economic activities reached 4.8 million VND per month, a year-on-year increase of 7.92%.
