Provincial People's Committee meets and works with Truong Thanh Group joint stock Company and REE joint stock Company

On the afternoon of July 10, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting and worked with Truong Thanh Vietnam Group Joint Stock Company (TTVN Group) and REE Joint Stock Company (REE). The meeting was attended by Mr. Le Van Han, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, as well as leaders from relevant departments, sectors, and localities.

In Tra Vinh, TTVN Group has formed a consortium with REE and Japanese investors (Kumagai Gumi, KANSAI Group, INPEX Group) to propose a 1,800 MW offshore wind power development project. The project includes phase 1 of the Truong Thanh Wind Power Plant with an 800MW capacity at locations V4-2A, V4-2B, and the REE Tra Vinh Wind Power Plant with a capacity of 1,000MW. These projects have been included in the potential list of the 8th Power Planning Project, which has been approved by the Prime Minister.

The leadership of Truong Thanh Vietnam Group Joint Stock Company also stated that they have thoroughly studied the legal aspects of the project and completed research and evaluation programs sponsored by the Japanese government.

During the meeting, TTVN Group and REE presented a proposal for a pilot offshore wind power project. They requested the Provincial People's Committee to consider and report to the Prime Minister for approval of the pilot and socialization of investments in 500kV transmission lines for the Truong Thanh Wind Power Plant (locations V4-2A, V4-2B) and the REE Tra Vinh Wind Power Plant, to be executed before 2030. They also expressed the desire to continue receiving the province's attention, support, and coordination to expedite the completion of legal procedures for the pilot offshore wind power project.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Han emphasized the significance of this power project for the province's socio-economic development, as it would create more employment opportunities for local workers and contribute a substantial amount of electricity to the national grid. He expressed confidence in the project proponents' expertise, technology, and investment capabilities in the energy sector, thus supporting the proposal for the pilot project and other recommendations made by the businesses. Chairman Le Van Han assured that Tra Vinh would provide full support to the investors for their research and timely implementation of the project.
